In October 2000, Terri Dickmeyer donated a kidney to her younger brother. "From the start, it was never a question in my mind whether to donate a kidney; it has always been important to stick together through the hard times." Steve says he's thankful everyday nad having the transplant has given him an opportunity to have his life back. Steve is feeling healthy now, and has a "ton of energy", which he needs to keep up with his young son, Max. Prior to donating a kidney, Terri underwent comprehensive medical and psychological testing. Two months after the surgery she was back to her "regular self", enjoying her normal activities.
