What is this medication for?

This is an antiviral medication. You may get valacyclovir for the first few months after your transplant to help prevent certain kinds of viral infections such as herpes, chicken pox, shingles, and cold sores.

How should I take this medication?

This medication can be taken with or without food. It can be taken at any time of the day and may be taken at the same time as any of your other medications. Take it at the same time every day.

What are some possible side effects of this medication?

Take with food or milk.
