Donors & transplants – monthly update

This is an update for the current year to date on the number of organ donors and transplants.

Number of British Columbians who have registered their organ donation decision in the BC Organ Donor Registry: 1, 612, 883

Organ donors

  • the number deceased donors originating in BC: 71
  • the number of deceased donor organs imported to BC: 18
  • the number of living kidney donors: 39     

Transplants

  • the total number of transplants performed to date:  275
  • the number of patients waiting for transplant: 634
  • the number of patients followed post transplant: 6, 457

BC kidney transplant wait times
Median wait times in months for adult kidney patients who received their first kidney transplant between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.  

Data does not include highly sensitized patients (HSP), simultaneous multi-organ transplants, and retransplants.

Wait time is defined as the time in months from first dialysis start date to transplant date.
